Add On Sonia

From her early days singing along to the classics with her grandmother at the piano, to her college years singing with an alternative band, to singing jazz, country and classic rock music in recent years, music has always been a part of Add On Sonia's life. Based in Atlanta, this singer-songwriter, whose stage name is inspired by the Adansonia Digitata trees of Madagascar, has an intriguing body of original work reflecting her unique life experiences – time spent living in Guam, Southeast Asia and the metro Atlanta area. From the intractable pull of romantic love depicted in "Gravity," to the fanciful depiction of various Atlanta neighborhoods in "My Southeast Atlanta", Add On Sonia spins her unusual perspectives into flavorful depictions of the world she lives in.

Add On Sonia's musical influences include Kate Bush, David Bowie, Sara Bareilles, and Fleetwood Mac. She performs at venues around the Southeastern United States, either with her band or lending her voice to others.

Her debut album, "From Space," was produced by Billy Gewin at Cave Cricket Studio in Tucker, Georgia, and features a talented roster of Atlanta musicians. “From Space” was released in November 2024.

“From Space is a debut that establishes Add On Sonia as a fresh and compelling voice in alternative folk. The album’s mix of genres, heartfelt storytelling, and thoughtful production make it a standout in today’s music landscape.”

“The album seamlessly transitions between genres, offering something for every listener. From the alternative folk sound of “Abandoned City” to the playful pop elements in “My Southeast Atlanta”, Sonia’s ability to adapt her style without losing her signature authenticity is a testament to her artistic versatility.”

“Add On Sonia” makes a remarkable debut with her album From Space, an 11-track collection that skillfully weaves alternative folk, pop, and country influences into an emotionally rich tapestry of sound.”
